BuckeyeThon

Via our BuckeyeThon Team Captain, Jaime Donaldson:

“Have you ever wanted to be a part of something bigger than yourself? Do you ever wish you could help put an end to childhood cancer? If you said yes to either of these questions, you should join BuckeyeThon!! BuckeyeThon is the largest student-run philanthropy in the state of Ohio, which raises funds and awareness for the Hematology/Oncology and BMT Department of Columbus’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospital: Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Nationwide Children’s treats all children - regardless of a family’s ability to pay. As a team, we will be raising money and dancing for a 12 hour shift FTK. There is only ONE month left to register for BuckeyeThon. Follow the link below to sign up and join the running club team 😊 Don't want to do the dance marathon? Well follow the link anyway and donate to our team! Every dollar matters.

https://myfundraiser.osu.edu/site/TR/BuckeyeThon/BuckeyeThon?pg=team&fr_id=1190&team_id=3661

I will also be using the Facebook event as a form of communication for fundraising events and anything leading else up to the Dance Marathon in February! The deadline to register is November 16th. The earlier you sign up, the more time you have to fund raise!!”

End of Season Potluck/Party

Via Maryann Kusmer:

“The Finals and Holiday Season also signifies the end of Cross Country and the beginning of the Indoor Track Season. Come celebrate with us at a potluck dinner and party this Friday, November 30th!

We will begin with the potluck at the Wholesome House at 7:30 before going over to Evan Sergent and Ryan Heckman's house for the after party. All officers will be bringing dishes, but general members are more than welcome to bring a dish as well. A sign up will be put in this event as well as sent out in the newsletter. If you have any dietary restrictions, please fill out the survey in this event so we can cater to your needs.

As it is every year, the dress code for this event is strict: come in the your ugliest Christmas / Holiday sweater. The uglier, the better!

Also, please fill out nominations for paper plate awards with janky events that occurred throughout the semester!”

Chocolate Milk Mile

Via Maryann Kusmer:

“You've asked for it (seriously, the amount of people I've had asking me to do this event again is insane) and here it is: the 2018 Chocolate Milk Mile.
We'll be gathering, hopefully, at the Jesse Owens Stadium this Sunday morning at 9am to do something really gross: drink milk and run. I will be doing my best to live stream the event so those of you smart enough to stay in bed on a Sunday morning have something to laugh at. I still have to decide if it BYOM or not. More to come.”

Rules of the Chocolate Milk Mile:
4 x 1 solo cup of chocolate milk followed by a 400 on the track (1 mile, half a gallon of milk total)
In the unfortunate case that a runner is unable to keep the chocolate milk down before finishing, a 2 minute penalty is added.
If a runner finishes but is unable to keep the chocolate milk down for 10 minutes following the race, a 1 minute penalty is added.

Olentangy Clean-up (Service Event)

Via Maryann Kusmer:

“Hi everyone! We have for you our first service event of the semester, coordinated by Alex Art. Next Sunday, September 23rd we will be going to the Olentangy river with the Friends of the Lower Olentangy Watershed (FLOW) to help clean the river area. This is a great opportunity if you're in another student org that requires you to have service hours, plus you'll be doing your part to help the local ecosystem!”

We will be meeting at the Ohio Union at 12:30 pm and then carpooling over to our service location, which is Side-by-Side Park on West 3rd Ave.

Via Alex Art:

“The location we will be working on is where the trail passes under 3rd. This area gets missed a lot during other clean-ups, due to it being tucked away. Be sure to wear appropriate attire, including long pants in case of ticks/poison ivy. Additionally, it may be muddy depending on what the weather does this week.”

The carpool sheet can be found in our Facebook group here or the event page here.
